Righteous Rain

"Drip down, O heavens, from above, And let the clouds pour down righteousness; Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit, And righteousness spring up with it. I, the LORD, have created it." Isaiah 45:8
Don't you just love this visual? Drip down. Not pour forth upon us. Not flood us. Just drip...slowly one drop at a time. I think of coming by drops meaning slowly and deliberately, allowing time to sink in, to be absorbed. Isn't this more permanent than coming all at once and then running off? Isn't this the way we want to experience God's word so we can keep it in our hearts and minds? Isn't this the Spiritual rain that we desire instead of the transient downpour that is soon washed away?
Lord just like the rain we desire to end the drought we are experiencing to our soil and plant life, we need to receive a spiritual watering of our souls. We want one that will fill us slowly so it sinks in and brings forth fruit that bears your love and service. Bring on the predicted rains today and let us be receptive and accepting of your salvation and righteousness. We can not do it on our own. You are our watering can, our sprinkler system our rain cloud. Drip down upon us.
